In general, counterfeit goods are copied and packaged to resemble genuine/legitimate goods as closely as possible. The legitimate producer's trademarks and logos are reproduced in order to deceive consumers into thinking they are buying the genuine merchandise.

Definition:
The TRIPS agreement is the most comprehensive multilateral agreement on intellectual property in existence. TRIPS sets a minimum standard for intellectual property protection that countries that join the WTO must conform to.
